" We must all choose to suffer from one of two pains : the pain of discipline or the
pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons ” – Jim Rohn said.
Every human being is guaranteed to at least experience pain in life. The issue now is which pain you decide to suffer first between the two. That is ; 1.) The pain of discipline or 2.) The pain of regret.
The pain of discipline is the first phase that every human being is expected to experience, but some people choose to skip it, which is the greatest mistake people make because somewhere somehow it will hunt you again. The pain of discipline is doing what you know you have to do, what is required for you to do, whether you feel like it or not. It is the pain that prepares you for the future, giving you strength and life skills that will enables you to accomplish future life goals. Pain of discipline is like sacrificing what you have to gain what you want.
Taking into consideration, going to school, going to work, going to the gym, trainings and going to church. These all, are activities which requires energy and. effort in order to gain something. So, whether you feel like or not to do that, your goal reminds you that you have to do it. Human goals and ambitions mainly, are the push factors for discipline. Everyone dream to be successful by the end of day, thereby action is needed immediately before the opportunity vapours. Discipline means going through emotional and mental pain so as to gain credibility later. Thus where the proverb, "sweet comes after sweat" was originated from.
Unlike the pain of discipline, the pain of regret is the most bitter and unwanted one. But because of lack of knowledge, most people end up choosing it because of urgent gratification. Regrets mostly, are experienced with people who are are ignorant to wisdom and l personally believe it hunt lazy people as well. If is the most painful one because memories will hunt you for a lifetime. Missed opportunities, all the moments you refused to work will always come back in your mind. You might not choose this intentionally but through peer pressure. However, the pain of regret teach you to be disciplined. It is the point of learning for other people. For a teacher with experience, is better than with knowledge only. 1 Corinthians 9:27 says, "But l keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when l have preached tp others, l myself should be a castaway". Every human being must be disciplined. Therefore, make wise decisions in life that won't make you regret.
